We're going to make sure we highlight plenty of photo's of what our volunteers get up to, but here's a few to get things started....

Ride to Conquer Cancer

The crew  and volunteers play a vital role in the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer - an epic 2 day, 200km cycling adventure on a quest to end cancer. Volunteers come along in shifts on the weekend of the ride and assist in a range of activities gaining valuable experience. The Ride to Conquer Cancer Volunteers had a great time in 2011 and many of them plus more, will be back in 2012 to do it all over again...you could join them!

Volunteer Quotes

In 2010, the Queensland Fitness Sport and Recreation Skills Alliance and Volunteering Queensland surveyed more than 500 of our volunteers to find out some more about th jobs they were doing, what training they had or needed, how much time they spent volunteering at their local, association or venue and more. The results were really valuable. Here's what some of them had to say about their volunteering...

  •  "My kids play and are coached by other volunteers and it is a way to put back into the club that the kids get so much out of"

  • "Enjoy the sport, the participation, companionship, fitness & enjoyment of competition"

  • "Giving back to the sport what I got out of it for some 50 years"

  • "Yes. It is very satisfying to think that I have in some small way provided for the younger generation to participate in sport which is good for their general upbringing"

  • "Anything that you do as a volunteer helps you in everyday life, in your work and in the street. Just the confidence that you gain by being involved as a "useful/appreciated" person leads on to your being more successful in everything you do"
